How do I select a qualified solar power system installation company?
First of all, when you plan to install a commercial or residential solar power system, you must select an installation company with a professional permit and installation experience in solar systems. Look for experience, years in the industry, leadership ability, proven performance, and warranties to back up any claims; beware of contractors with fewer than five years in the industry. Also, check that your contractor has California Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB) licenses cataloged as C46 or C10 or B license also covers roof construction. Without proper licenses, it is illegal to install a solar system in California, with very few exemptions. Obviously, in most cases, solar power systems are installed on the roof of a building. So the installation of the system will include roof construction design, roof material selection, roof water-leakage control, etc., in addition to the solar power system itself. Without installation experience and expertise, the installation quality cannot be guaranteed. Beware of contractors using other licenses not approved for solar PV installation.
A solar power system can range from several thousand dollars, up to several million dollars, and This is why the customer needs information from a qualified, licensed and experienced service that will come out and give a detailed assessment of the property or site. Without it, the customer will take a big risk on the installation quality and post-installation maintenance/service if the system installer has no license, uses a license from another person or company, or has a sub-contract from others. Also, your application for rebates from California government or for federal tax incentives from the US government will be denied if an unlicensed company installs the system.
A1 Solar Power Inc. is a licensed contractor in the state of California. All of A1 Solar Power Inc.’s engineers and project managers are certified in solar power system design and installation. A1 Solar Power Inc. has successfully installed thousands of solar power systems. How long will it take to apply for a permit from local government in order to start a solar power system installation?
The permit application processing time is different from city to city and A1 Solar Power Inc. does not have any control over the length of time it may take. It could be from a few days to many months. Factors such as the complexity and capacity (size) of a customer’s system, to how backlogged the city may be in approving applications are just a few reasons for longer approval times.
